So who’s David Primrose?

David joined our club when a few of us had a 3some at Kingston Links and we felt sorry for this guy who had a bag of hired clubs. We asked him what his handicap was and he said ‘Thuree’ (3) .. he spoke Scottish ! He birded the opening par 5 and then put his tee shot on the second into the water and double bogied the second hole. We thought he was all talk .. anyway he birdied the next few holes and made us eat humble pie.
After that he joined our club and ended up making me have to change the handicapping software to deal with plus handicaps! He was +2 at one stage so he had to play to 66 each week !
If you click on the Hall of Fame on our website you’ll see his card where he shot the current Ivanhoe course record of 62 that was the week after I played win him when he shot a 63 which was a record at that time!. Bearing in mind that Ivanhoe was once the of a Victorian PGA site that’s really impressive.
So David has been by far the best player we’ve ever had and he helped the club standards improve dramatically So obviously we decided that our original champion of champions should have the event named after him.
Cheers
Allan

Vin O’Meara washed out 20th Dec 2008

Vin O’Meara will be chuckling away to himself as he managed to pick the wettest day of 2008 for our final round of the Vin O’Meara. Even though SOME OF US veterans managed to finish the round in the miserable wet conditions the majority of players could not finish the round and the competition had to be abandoned for this year. No one was more disappointed as me as I had backed Chris and he was going ok 🙁

Next week is the David Primrose Champion of Champions. This competition is for the winners and grinners from 2008. The eligible players for this year are

Chris Priems
Damien Lee
Malcolm Adey
Rodger Clarke
Ken Grist
Ed Kloprogge
Rod Grant
Derek McDonald
Emilio Bassi
Oliver Gross
David Rees
Craig Sharp
Ross Trevean
Neil Iuculano
Kazim Akdag

Please note that these are the winners from all the major comps and monthly medal as well as the Echuca Winner. Best 3 rounds of par, stableford and stroke are not included.

Your editor will be away next week so a happy and safe xmas break to you and your families…see you in 2009!

Presidential Message 20th Dec 08

Gents,

As you would be aware this week is our club break up and club presentation.

The plan for the day is:

Golf – 7.15am 1st group

Club AGM 12.30pm

Lunch 1pm

Presentation 1.45pm

Finish around 3pm.

I would strongly suggest anyone who wasnt there Saturday to ring the pro shop and book yourself in. Due to high numbers this week we cant have any visitors (members must get priority this week).

This Saturday is also the David Primrose Champion of Champions (stroke) and a regular club round (Stableford). This will mean that all players will score a stableford cards and the eligible players for the Champ of Champs need to play out every hole in order to turn in a stroke score.

Championship points will be awarded as usual for the regular round. Points are not awarded for the Champ of Champ winner or place getters.

Allan will put a list of eligible players on the website.

Regards,

Stuart.
