Another cracking day for golf on Saturday and this was reflected in the scores. Our winner for the day was Craig ‘SNAGS’ Sharp with an impressive 74 off the stick and 43pts. Snags had some question marks about his ability to convert a solid start into a win (which his playing partners reminded him about after bogies at 10, 11 and 12) however he lifted from there on and finished off in style. In second place was the ever improving Kazim Akdag, Zimmer shot 41pts and will now move to a handicap of 18. In third place with 40pts were Tony Balcombe and Ben Akdag, also impressive scores. 39pts got 4th and 5th was 38pts….Hot Scoring.
Tony Mifsud took the money on the 15th landing 167cm from the pin.
Andrew Petricola took the eagles nest dropping a ONE FOOT putt on the 17th.
I would like to remind ALL members about booking yourself in to play. On a weekly basis we are having 1 or 2 members not turn up who have put their name down to play. With our numbers increasing you need to be mindful about this.
In other news, Rodger is recovering well in hospital. He had a couple of rough days Sat & Sun however he is now up and about and should be home sometime over the weekend. Thank you to the guys that went and seen him and gave him a call I know he really appreciated it I am sure you will continue to your support until his return to golf.

Results 3rd January 2009 – Monthly Medal
Well Mehmet Akdag started the year off in style with a convincing net 64 to win the January 2009 monthly medal by three strokes from the rest of the field. Speaking of Akdags we can now officially welcome Musti Akdag to our ranks as he now has his first official handicap (24) and will no doubt be chasing the rest of the Akdag crew for line honors this year.
The Money hole jackpotted this week so practice your short irons during the week. Targe won the NTP on the 18th with 2.7m.
PLEASE NOTE FOUR PLAYERS (Bob, Emilio, Tony and Stephen) USED THE WRONG HANDICAPS ON SATURDAY. HANDICAPS ARE EMAILED AND POSTED ON THE INTERNET AND IT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH PLAYER TO RECORD THE CORRECT HANDICAP ON THEIR CARD.

Social Round 27th December 2008
The last game of the year was a social stableford round with 13 players. No handicaps, eclectic or championship points apply in this last game of the calendar year. Today we all chipped in $5 and Rodger the Lodger topped the scores with a 37 … not bad for a one legged bandit who walked off $65 richer !!
A warm welcome to Paul Clarke who is now living in Sydney and always returns for a hit with the real golfers at Ivanhoe and not the pretend toffee nosed ones in Sydney 🙂
The day was really warm with 30 degrees top and no rain (I was very disappointed because I bought an umbrella holder and couldn’t use it!)
Next week is the January Monthly Medal so better practice hard. As Gary Player said ‘The harder I practice the luckier I get”.
There are two spots at Yarrambatt spare on Tuesday 30th at 10.10am if anyone would like to play email me at ivanhoegc@gmail.com.
Cheers
Allan
SATURDAY 20/12/2008
Conditions could not have been any better on Saturday and this was reflected with the scores. Our Club Champion for 2008 continued his red hot form with a blistering 71 off the stick to give him a net 60 to win the Champion of Champions and 44pts to secure 1st place and 8 Champion ship points. From reports Priemsy could not miss on the greens. Finally the handicap will catch up with him for the January Medal, lets see how he goes of 7. Coming 2nd on Saturday was Bob McDonald with 43pts which I believe invloved a couple of wipes aswell, good to see Bob return to form. 3rd place with a 1 under the card 67 for a nett 63 and 41 pts was David Rees. Any score under par is an excellent result, could we have another scratch handicapper in the club? Time will tell.
This weeks golf is a social round and our 1st group will tee off at 7.45am I have booked 4 groups. There maybe a couple of spots left so call the pro shop to book in if you want a game.
The AGM held on Saturday has bought about a couple of changes which will be posted prior to January Medal.
Our presentation day and xmas break up was a success. There were a couple of people I forgot to mention for there contributions. Firstly to Neil Argall and Rodger Clarke for organising this years trophies and secondly Andrew Petricola for his photography efforts on the day. I will post the pics shortly.
Finally on behalf of the committee we wish you all a very merry and safe Christmas and new year and we look forward to another great year of golf with the Ivanhoe Golf Club.
Stuart.
