Results for December Monthly Medal 27th Nov 2010

Jan Siemon showed everybody a clean pair of heels to win the December Monthly Medal in style with a net 62…who backed him for the Calcutta? Lucky man (or maybe not now the handicapper’s got to him!).
Close behind was Mo Sabih relishing his new handicap and shooting a net 64 to run second . Well done Lads.

The form today should be a good indicator for the Vin O’Meara Xmas Cup which is a stroke round over the next two weeks. Vin was one of the founding members of the club and President for many years. A fun loving man with an Irish sense of humour – I’m sure he’ll be looking down and  seeing if he can wash us out again like he did back in 2008. Good luck to everybody.

For those of you that were at the Calcutta it was a record tote this year, $1900, and the holders of the placegetters will get a very nice Xmas bonus.
If you haven’t paid the Treasurer your bet money please bring on Saturday.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDED

The Club Champion for 2010 is our club captain, Damien Lee with 107 points – 25 points clear of the field (thats 3 wins clear). Damo set the pace in the middle of the year and it was a case of catch me if you can for the rest of us. A great effort Damo..well done mate from all of us. Runner up is Chris Priems with 82 points and Jan Siemon, this months medal winner got his 8 points to come in third with 79 points just pipping out his President!!. As they say the cream rises to the top .. winners and grinners they are!

ECLECTIC DECIDED

Yes it’s him again!!. Jan Siemon has won the Eclectic competition with net 45.85 strokes which was .15 strokes less than Gordons 46 last year.
A bumper week for Jan which should put him in a good frame of mind to take over the handicapping 🙂

Results for November 20th 2010

The Dynamic Duo, Gordon and Craig took out today’s Stableford competition with 42 points on a sunny and pleasant spring day, hard done by in second and 40 points each were Andrew Blight and David Rees, continuing his good form. As I write this post its the the first day in the low thirties so we’ll have some hot games ahead of us this year. Record numbers of snakes (not us! the wild life kind) are predicted so if you lose a ball in long grass near the river take a club with you on the search.

The Eclectic is getting interesting with Jan Siemon leading with 46 and Craig Sharp within striking distance with a couple of birdies 5,6,8 or 13 next Saturday.

Next week is the December Monthly Medal and the Calcutta so bring your money along and have a bet on your favourite player. Bets should be paid to the bookie, oops Treasurer, on the day.

Results for 13th November 2010 including Matchplay Final

Matchplay Final

What a miserable day to play a Matchplay Final. It rained from the start to the finish and the match was eventually won by Damien Lee who defeated Rodger Clarke 3&2. Damo surged ahead in the first six holes and was 4 up at one stage then he ‘melted’ mid round and Rodger fought back to only 1 down, from that point Damo came home strongly to take the match, the final and the 2010 Matchplay Trophy. Damo has done a great job as Club Captain and it was fitting he took out his first Matchplay Championship in his last year as Captain.

Stableford Competition

As handicapper you get to see patterns in results,  for example , good scores across the board on fine days and crap scores on rain days. Today defied the odds and the scores that came in were unusually excellent. Todays winner, David Rees, fresh from his Echuca victory, blitzed the course with a 42 point stableford round, closely followed by the Echuca second place getter, David Howard who had 40 points. Well done to the “Echuca Two”.

NOTICE. Will players please email or let Rodger know if they will be attending the Xmas breakup on 18th December so catering can be finalised.

Welcome to Mo

Congratulations to Mo Sabih who now has his formal handicap of 20.3 and I’m sure is looking forward to taking you all to the cleaners!!

Results for November Monthly Medal 6th Nov 2010

Today the youngest of the Akdags pipped out his older brother to win the November Monthly Medal on countback. Well done to Kazim Akdag who today edged out Mehmet – both players had an excellent net 64. Mal Fleming and Damo came in second with 66 and Oliver 3rd with 70.

It was certainly a beautiful day with much easier conditions than Echuca – no mossies and no rain.

Next week will be the meeting for committee nominations after the Stableford round.
