A tightly bunched set of results today with 16 out of 24 players getting championship points. The winners and grinners were Laurie Mannix and Gordon Hill with 38 points then 4 people got 37 points for second, four got 35 for 3rd. The handicapping must be tuned perfectly :-).

In the matchplay Rodger beat Ken 3&1 and advances to the quarter finals joining Mehmet and Damo.

Next week is our favourite – Par – so brush up on your short game for up and down recoveries.

A shared win this week with Chris Priems and Mehmet Akdag winning with an excellent pair of 40 stablefords with Ben Akdag coming in second with 39 points. I played with Ben and he was complaining early in the round that his game was flaky…I’ll take 39 points any time when I’m flaky :-).

Matchplay rounds were completed today. Mehmet was obviously in hot form today and knocked off Rod who had a slight abberation today. Damo beat Mal 1 up so this was obviously a very close match.. Well done to the winners and commiserations to the losers.

Nearest the pin went to Priemsy with a shot that landed 80cm from the hole. If that had gone in I think it would be Chris’s 3rd hole in one….next time Chris.

Two players retired hurt today, Trevor and Joe so I hope they recuperate well during the week.

An excellent win for Bill Eastoe‘s first monthly medal with the club shooting 63 points, two clear of Mal Whelan putting in a good round of net 65 in second place and Emilio scoring 66 for third. This pack of players were 3 strokes clear of the rest of the field so well done guys. Bill’s last win was on Grand Final Day last year so I am sure he will be pleased with this win and his new handicap 🙂

Jan Siemon has probably already spent his jackpot winnings from the nearest the pin. Hope the horse came in Jan!

David Ford will be very pleased that Andrew Petricola our new President got up and won his first Autumn Cup today with an aggregate score of +5 off a 5 handicap which is basically perfect golf. Pepsi has also won the Fred Howe Winter Cup before so now he has both of our oldest foundation members trophies in the bag. This win with double points now puts him at the top of the championship points table…well done Andrew a truly presidential performance!!

Close on Andrew’s heels were Tony Mifsud with an excellent +4 and two club veterans, Ken and Rodger coming in third with +3’s. An excellent bbq was held after the game  .. thanks to Rodger and Oliver from the hungry players!

Next week will be the May monthly medal (yes we’re almost halfway through 2010!) and tee time of 8am.
