Vin O’Meara Round 1 Results

Today our club champion emerged after a closely fought finish right to the last round of the year. Damien Lee, our esteemed club captain, held on to his lead from a late charge by Craig Sharp to win with 84 championship points from Craig’s 83 points. Craig won the competition today to get the maximum possible points and it was not quite enough to topple Damo who has been in great form all year and maintained the lead in the championship over the last two months. Not forgetting the other chance today, Jan Siemon, who could have knocked off Damo with a win but it wasn’t to be.
Great win Damo! Great effort Craig to run it so close to the wire. Next time Jan!
Top 10 placings for the championship.
Heres a pic of our champion preparing for todays round with Jan.
Damo and Jan
Good luck to everyone in the Vin O’Meara competition over the next two weeks and may the best man win. The Calcutta has a record pool with the highest bet over $150 and the winner has the chance of around $1000!
Vin would have loved the buzz around the betting. He was a man that loved his golf and always had a smile and joke with his friends. I’ll be using a pink tee for the competition just like he did (we gave him hell about pink!!).
DON’T FORGET YOUR CALCUTTA MONEY AND PAY GORDON BEFORE THE START OF THE COMP ON SATURDAY!!

David Rees put in a blistering 67 off the stick today for 43 stableford points and the win. Our youngest player Kazim put in yet another one of his good rounds this year to come in second with 41 points.

After a hot week in the mid 30’s it was pleasant to have a cooler though humid day. The greens were exceptionally furry today and thats my excuse .. whats yours!

Next week is the Calcutta so work out which players you want to back an bring your money on the day.

Dunc’s day at Whittlesea Golf Club was a complete washout. It was the wettest recorded Nov day with the normal months rain on one day. Chris Moore is trying to re-schedule the event for the 6th December.

Congratulations to Damo who put in a blistering 42 today to secure top spot in the Championship Table with only ONE week of point scoring left! Ben also had a great round of 40 and was unlucky not to win with such a good score.

Welcome back to Neil Iuculano who has been away for a few months and is now back out on the fairways once again.

A special chip was made today by Gordon who chipped in from the back of the 18th, over the top tier, down the slope to the bottom tier and smack bang into the hole.
