Results 3rd January 2009 – Monthly Medal

Well Mehmet Akdag started the year off in style with a convincing net 64 to win the January 2009 monthly medal by three strokes from the rest of the field. Speaking of Akdags we can now officially welcome Musti Akdag to our ranks as he now has his first official handicap (24) and will no doubt be chasing the rest of the Akdag crew for line honors this year.
The Money hole jackpotted this week so practice your short irons during the week. Targe won the NTP on the 18th with 2.7m.

PLEASE NOTE FOUR PLAYERS (Bob, Emilio, Tony and Stephen) USED THE WRONG HANDICAPS ON SATURDAY. HANDICAPS ARE EMAILED AND POSTED ON THE INTERNET AND IT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH PLAYER TO RECORD THE CORRECT HANDICAP ON THEIR CARD.

Results for today are
 1st-M.Akdag(64),2nd-S.Clarke,(67),3rd-K.Akdag,R.Clarke,T.Balcombe(68),4th-A.Davies(69),5th-G.Hill,B.McDonald,M.Whelan(70)

Social Round 27th December 2008

The last game of the year was a social stableford round with 13 players. No handicaps, eclectic or championship points apply in this last game of the calendar year. Today we all chipped in $5 and Rodger the Lodger topped the scores with a 37 … not bad for a one legged bandit who walked off $65 richer !!

A warm welcome to Paul Clarke who is now living in Sydney and always returns for a hit with the real golfers at Ivanhoe and not the pretend toffee nosed ones in Sydney 🙂

The day was really warm with 30 degrees top and no rain (I was very disappointed because I bought an umbrella holder and couldn’t use it!)

Next week is the January Monthly Medal so better practice hard. As Gary Player said ‘The harder I practice the luckier I get”.

There are two spots at Yarrambatt spare on Tuesday 30th at 10.10am if anyone would like to play email me at ivanhoegc@gmail.com.

Cheers
Allan

SATURDAY 20/12/2008

Conditions could not have been any better on Saturday and this was reflected with the scores. Our Club Champion for 2008 continued his red hot form with a blistering 71 off the stick to give him a net 60 to win the Champion of Champions and 44pts to secure 1st place and 8 Champion ship points. From reports Priemsy could not miss on the greens. Finally the handicap will catch up with him for the January Medal, lets see how he goes of 7. Coming 2nd on Saturday was Bob McDonald with 43pts which I believe invloved a couple of wipes aswell, good to see Bob return to form. 3rd place with a 1 under the card 67 for a nett 63 and 41 pts was David Rees. Any score under par is an excellent result, could we have another scratch handicapper in the club? Time will tell.

This weeks golf is a social round and our 1st group will tee off at 7.45am I have booked 4 groups. There maybe a couple of spots left so call the pro shop to book in if you want a game.

The AGM held on Saturday has bought about a couple of changes which will be posted prior to January Medal.

Our presentation day and xmas break up was a success. There were a couple of people I forgot to mention for there contributions. Firstly to Neil Argall and Rodger Clarke for organising this years trophies and secondly Andrew Petricola for his photography efforts on the day. I will post the pics shortly.

Finally on behalf of the committee we wish you all a very  merry and safe Christmas and new year and we look forward to another great year of golf with the Ivanhoe Golf Club.

Stuart.

So who’s David Primrose?

David joined our club when a few of us had a 3some at Kingston Links and we felt sorry for this guy who had a bag of hired clubs. We asked him what his handicap was and he said ‘Thuree’ (3) .. he spoke Scottish ! He birded the opening par 5 and then put his tee shot on the second into the water and double bogied the second hole. We thought he was all talk .. anyway he birdied the next few holes and made us eat humble pie.
After that he joined our club and ended up making me have to change the handicapping software to deal with plus handicaps! He was +2 at one stage so he had to play to 66 each week !
If you click on the Hall of Fame on our website you’ll see his card where he shot the current Ivanhoe course record of 62 that was the week after I played win him when he shot a 63 which was a record at that time!. Bearing in mind that Ivanhoe was once the of a Victorian PGA site that’s really impressive.
So David has been by far the best player we’ve ever had and he helped the club standards improve dramatically So obviously we decided that our original champion of champions should have the event named after him.
Cheers
Allan
