Results for Stableford Round 12th November 2011
The 12th of November could easily go down as the round of the year!! A balmy 28 degrees, and a light refreshing breeze made very comfortable conditions. The course manages to improve by the week, with perfect fairway to green golf, and as a treat, freshly mown rough. It was a pleasure to play, and fine scoring reflected the day.
With half the field playing to par or better, a high number was anyways going to win the day. With a stunning 1 over par front 9 returning 25 stableford points, Memmit Akdag(76) cruised the back to finish with 42! And, it must be added that all round he didn’t care.. Anyways.
Second place with 41 stableford! Rodger Clarke(83) must of walked off the last quietly confident. Back to back pars, carding high, and clubhouse leader till the last card, Great round though Rodger, only 1 wipe, and two 1 pointers, the rest two, and up! Good looking card.
Ivanhoe’s ideal golfing conditions even made it conducive to some of our higher handicapped, with two happy golfers coming in third, Congatulations to Craig Sharp(81), and Trevor Jackson(93), who must still be in disbelief of not taking the full points for the round.
The header, and handicap sheet title has been updated with the last point scoring round being the December monthly medal, apologies for any confusion.
Not only will a brief meeting, consisting of committee nominations be held after this weeks round. The first Ivanhoe Golf Club swap meet will take place. So for all who have unused, unplayable, shot costing equipment you believe your fellow members could benifit from. Label it with a name, and suggested price. EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!
Ball hole won by Captain Mitchell, and the cash was eaten on the way home. Best iron player in the club, Craig Sharp!!!

Results for Second Round Spring Cup 15/10/2011
With the completion of the second round of the Fred Kitson Spring Cup, all majors for the 2011 season have been run, and won. The groundstaff could not of put on a better display of the Ivanhoe course, for what turned out to be a scintillating finish of this years event.
It has always proved hard for a halfway leader to hold on to the prize in these Majors, but Damian Lee managed to prove the doubters wrong. After a phenomenal opining round of +6, Damian held out some strong finishing company carding -1(78), with a combined score of +5, to take this years trophy, and the double championship points.
Brendon Mitchall’s(82) square round was enough to secure second, finishing +3 for the tournament. It seems that since Brendon’s return to the home of golf in Victoria he has appeared for points almost every week! The handicapper will catch up to you soon enough Brendon.
A fast finishing Memhet Akdag(77) snuk into third place this event handing in a fantastic round of +4, to propel him from 7 shots down, into only missing out by 3.
Well played to our top three place getters, all worthy recipients of the double points, and one who can laugh all the way home with the prize.
A few note worthy performances for the second week: our Pres, Andrew Petricola, playing of a handicap of 3 carded a gross 68 for +3!!! This superb round elevated him into fourth place for some much needed points given he will be missing most of November. But, will it be enough. Chris Priems was loveing his game over the two rounds, unfortunately for Chris who left after 9 holes on the first round sitting on +3 making him invalid for the tournament then proceeded to card +4 in the second week! Yes Chris, you will, and have been handicapped for your fine performance.
The seniors produced some very interesting cards, and results but none more so than Mike Mann(84). Mike started the second round with -6, only to produce a flying round of +5. Excellent result considering he was -1 at the turn. Great back nine Mike. Kudos also must go towards Trevor Jackson who carded +2 on a day where most members played beneath par. Would also like to thank Trevor on his speed of play recently, leading the first group out, and completing in good time. If we could all complete our round like this the game will become a lot more enjoyable for all.
Melbourne Cup Day, for those interested in playing will be a shotgun start, discounts for seniors, and a complimentary glass of champagne. Any interested golfers should contact the pro shop to secure a placement.

Results for 8/10/11 Fred Kitson Cup First Round
The Spring Cup has always heralded two main points of discussion: comments on the NRL Grandfinal, and of course, why the hell would anyone choose to play consecutive rounds of PAR!!! Thanks Fred, who must be laughing at the lot of us. congratulations for last week have to be given to the superior team on the day, who almost begrudgingly deserve this years cup. Well played Manly Sea Eagles, and Mike Mann.
The first round of the Spring Cup was played in true namesakes fashion, with all enjoying conditions, and the magnificently presented course. With two rounds of par constituting the Fred Kitson, a strong start would be required on day one of this years tournament. After a blistering front nine of +6! Brendon Mitchell(78) succumbed to those big match nerves, letting it all go on the back. While Damian Lee(72) proved sure, and steady will win out over a long haul.
Only three more members were able to produce cards in the positive, with Bill Eastoe, who must be seriously contemplating this weeks engagement finishing only three shots of the current leader. Stephen O’Sullivan(85), and Jan Siemon(79) make up the last group for this weeks conclusion.
With double points on offer for both championship races, the result of this years Spring Cup could really dictate the final placings, and of course the trophies. Much can happen in a round of Par, so “be in it, to win it”.
For all those who have thought the boat for Rich River has passed, good news. Rodger has informed this blogger that a room is still available for this year sojourn to the southern parts of our northern state. If you have not attended one of these trips, and are tempted, or just want to come join the fun again, contact Rodger Clarke, and he’ll be happy to take your deposit.
Ball hole this week came down to centimeters, with Brendon Mitchell taking the prize. Cash went to a superb strike from Paul Anderson.
For all of us(and I suspect all) who have been touched by cancer, Kazim will be selling raffle tickets this Saturday raising money for the Cancer Council. Kazim raised over $700 last year, and hopes we will be able to help him better that this year.

Results for 2011 Grand Final Day
GrandFinal Day has dawned a pun us again, and so two mighty teams will stare each other down for Victory. It’s been a long hard season and it has come down to the two grittier sides, the two teams that earn the right to be there.
Due to preparations, and early festivities of the upcoming NRL Grandfinal between the Manly Sea Eagles, and the NZ Warriors, a vast number of members were unavailable for this special days round.
Two hardened groups went out this morning(probably AFL supporters), all vying for easy championship points. With all the commotion going on around them two players were able to keep their heads. Mike Mann(38), and Mo Sabih(36) both managing par or better. Well played to both, who are just waiting for the ice hockey to start!
The remaining points were awarded to Bill Eastoe(35), Oliver Gross(32), and Rodger Clarke(31). All this had made the seniors championship very interesting. Look forward to a great race home for the trophy’s.
No pro pin was played today.
