Results for Saturday 14/03/2009

NONE! Rain, Thunder and Lightning dominated the majority of play today. Play was abandoned as the final group played the 10th hole and therefore no competition was played.

The rain also affected match play games today which made our Club Captain very unhappy but our Assistant Treasurer smile…why you ask? Damo was 4up with 6 to play and cruising to the 2nd round, Hilly will have another chance. Sharpy and Zimmer were square at the 13th and Mal Fleming was 1up on El Presidente after nine.

As we move through the 1st round of Match play please do not play second round matches until after the 9th May.

If you are intending to play this week I would recommend you call the pro shop to confirm your spot.

Deposits for our club weekend in Echuca need to be paid by the end of March. Please advise Rodger of your intention to go and sort out the deposit.

We were supposed to have a club meeting on Saturday but due the absence of our Treasurer and Secretary this will occur Saturday. Please email stuart.clarke@infrastructure.gov.au any agenda items to be raised. As per last year’s meeting’s agenda items need to be provided prior to the meeting.

Results for 7th March 2009 – Monthly Medal

Well when the majority of the club was struggling with scored greens today our monthly medal winner Rod Grant ignored all that and carded a net 62 for clear 2 stroke win and the March monthly medal. Close on Rod’s heels was Ben Akdag with an excellent net 64 and steady Eddie Kloprogge with 66 fresh off his demolishment (is that a word?) of the Yarrambatt course earlier in the week.

Results for today are:

News Flash: New tree species discovered at Ivanhoe

Australian botanists have discovered a new species of gum tree growing in the picturesque Ivanhoe course in Melbourne. During a routine survey for the rare lesser spotted sullivan a new kind of branch structure was discovered which uncannily re-sembled an iron commonly used by week-end golfers. So surprised were the botanists that they decided not to disturb the unusual branch and have left it there as a testament to calm and tranquil golfing.

Results for 28th February 2009

Two of the clubs finest members – Allan Davies and Malcom Adey 🙂 – put in +5 results for a win today.  A great round by Andrew Petricola of 71 off the stick for a +4 tied with solid rounds from Ben Akdag and Stephen O’Sullivan with +4’s also.

The matchplay provided a lot of entertainment today with Ken ‘Terminator’ Grist knocking out last years matchplay champ, Chris Priems, 3 and 2.   Stephen O’Sullivan had a close match with Tony Balcombe and won 2 and 1. Emilio Bassi won in the second chip off on the 19th hole from Joe Demir.

Meanwhile Gordon Hill went quietly about his work and pocketed $81 for the jackpot nearest the pin…I’m sure its safely in the hands of the TAB by now.

Next week is monthly medal so remember to wear your club shirt.
